Our Mission
Separation and divorce can have lasting impacts on mental and physical health.
Children of separating families are 1.7 times more likely to experience mental health difficulties (Early Intervention Foundation, 2022). For adults—especially women—the risk of chronic illnesses such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes increases by 20% after divorce, and by 77% after a second divorce (Psychology Today).
Thanet is a divorce hotspot, with 11.2% of residents recorded as divorced or formerly in a civil partnership (ONS, 2021 Census). With 2.4 million separated families and 3.8 million children living in separated households across Great Britain (DWP, 2024), the need for tailored, compassionate support is urgent.
SHIFTwithin CIC provides body-breath-mind based courses, workshops & resources to support women and children address the physical, mental and emotional impacts of stress through separation, divorce and family transitions.
What we offer
Courses, workshops & resources
Our two impactful taster courses ran in Whitstable from March to May.
Relationship breakdown, separation & divorce | 8 weeks | For women
Supporting children through Family Transitions | 6 weeks | For children aged 6-10
We had amazing take up for both courses and really positive feedback, propelling us forward to roll out our Family Transition course in schools!
We are also developing our third course, Healthy relationships & Self Esteem | For girls 11+.
